"wonderful" World of Sports?

The world of sports has become very popular around most countries, but it is not  the glamorous and alluring attraction that you see on the internet and TV. Even though professionals enjoy playing, the system is quite similar.

Most leagues also have what is known as a combine that usually take place before the draft. Combines are used for incoming athletes to show teams their many skills and capabilities. For example, the recent NFL Combine had events such as the 40 meter dash, the vertical jump, the long jump, and a few more. Measurements of a player’s height, arm span, and weight are also taken . This is essentially a recreation of slavery - just two centuries apart.

Recently, the recording of Clipper’s owner, Donald Sterling, was released. That recording showed how Sterling is very similar to many slave owners. There was also various videos released showing a college basketball coach physically abusing his players by hitting them and throwing gear at them. During the time of slavery, the owners would too beat their slaves.

In conclusion, the “wonderful” world of sports is not as wonderful as it seems - it is much worse. No matter how you look at the world, slavery will always be around.

In the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and many more leagues, there are drafts where every team in the league scout for incoming rookies that they deem fit to play on their organization. After this, that rookie must then sign a contract with the team that consists of guidelines to guarantee the number of seasons seasons they will play and for how much pay, and only the team is allowed to break the contract. If this contract is broken by the player, then he will be fined. If this sounds familiar, then you are probably thinking of the slave owners who would also scout for new captives for their plantations. So from this, you can see that there are many similarities.
